Segen F. Estefen - Professor of Ocean Structures and Subsea Engineering at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) – COPPE, where he is the General Manager of the Subsea Technology Laboratory and Coordinator of the Offshore Renewable Energy Group. General Director of the Association National Institute for Ocean Research. Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Fellow of the Society for Underwater Technology (UK). Member of the Brazilian Academy of Engineering. He received the master’s degree in Ocean Engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro – COPPE, the Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London, and has been a research fellow at the Institute of Marine Technology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Coordinator of more than one hundred R&D projects and consultancies for governmental institutions, energy companies and suppliers (oil&gas and renewables).
