Romário Matos is Ph.D student in the Microbiology program at IMPPG/UFRJ. He earned his BS in Pharmacy from the Universidade Federal do Ceará, where he conducted research in Neuropharmacology, and his MS in Microbiology from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. In his doctorate, he did a sandwich period at the University of Minnesota (Minnesota, USA), sponsored by the CAPES/PrInt program. Since his masters, he investigates the use of prodrugs analogs of nucleotides (ProTides) to treat infection by Zika, dengue, and Chikungunya viruses.
