Guilherme Ary Plonski is the Director of the University of São Paulo's Institute for Advanced Studies (IEA), and the International Coordinator of the University-Based Institutes for Advanced Study (UBIAS) network. He holds master and doctoral degrees in Industrial Engineering, and was a Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Center for Science and Technology Policy. He has a double appointment at University of São Paulo (USP) – a full professor at the Business School, and an associate professor at the Engineering School. He is also the Research Director of the Center for Technology Policy and Management (PGT), and the Deputy Coordinator of USP Innovation Center. He was the CEO of the São Paulo State Institute for Technological Research (IPT), the largest of its kind in Latin America, and the president of the Brazilian Association of Science Parks and Business Incubators (Anprotec). He is a member of the boards of several ST&I institutions, including the Center for Strategic Studies and Management in Science, Technology and Innovation (CGEE), and the International Board of Governors of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
