Cyntia Ely is currently a doctoral student by the Chemical Engineering Program at COPPE/UFRJ, in the area of wastewater treatment. She completed her doctorate intership in Portugal at the Catholic University of Portugal, being financed by the Institutional Internationalization Program (Print/CAPES). During this period, she studied the biodegradation of endocrine disrupting compounds in synthetic saline effluent by biological treatment in an aerobic granular sludge reactor and the bio-augmentation process by adding a specific bacterial strain. She has a degree in Environmental Engineering from the State University of Santa Catarina - UDESC (2015) and a master's degree in Environmental Sciences from the same Institution (2017). She has experience in physical-chemical analyzes, in treatment of domestic and industrial effluents with an emphasis on the application of advanced enzymatic, advanced oxidative and biological processes.
