Adilson de Oliveira holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (1969), a post-graduate degree in Business Administration from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation in São Paulo (1972), a specialization in Energy Economics from the Institut Économique et Juridique de l'Énergie of the Université de Sciences Sociales de Grenoble (1976), and a PhD in Development Economics from the Université de Sciences Sociales de Grenoble (1977). He participated in the creation of the Interdisciplinary Energy Area of COPPE/UFRJ where he remained until 2002. In 2003 he moved to the Institute of Economics at UFRJ where he retired as a full professor. He currently assists UFRJ, with no employment relationship, as a member of its Board of Trustees. His academic life has been dedicated to issues related to the energy sector, working mainly on the following topics: energy planning, regulation, industrial organization, technological innovation, pricing, and energy policy.
